Quite an Arty Week Indeed

OMG! Am I having the the worst case of Monday blues ever!!! Moving on... This week is lined with must-dos starting Wednesday for art lovers in KL. ~A line-up some Johoreans would kill for! ~ Guess there's nothing like having a bunch of stuff to see and do to get us kick-started.

Jason Wee -Ruins (see previous post) + Mit Jai Inn -The Social Mandala & Other Mit-ologies @ Valentine Willie Fine Art

Mit Jai Inn is a seminal founder of the Chiang Mai Social Installation (CMSI), a non-commercial art space that evolved as a direct refusal of neo-liberalist trends to appropriate Thai-ness and Buddhist iconography for commercial reasons. Mit has shown at Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2006) and most recently, Ver Gallery, Bangkok.

Subliminary - Sublime and Sensory @ Shah Alam Gallery
An exhibition of Visual Artworks from the collective art group Satu -featuring works by artists Elias Yamani Ismail, Faizal Sidik, Isnian Ibrahim, Nurul Azmah, Hafiz Asrun and Khairul Azmer.

Usually open by appointment only, Shalini Ganendra Fine Art @ The Private Gallery is having an Open House viewing of early and recent works by established Malaysian artists, including Chong Siew Ying, J. Anurendra, Yeoh Kean Thai, Yau Bee Ling , Jamil Mat Isa, Chan Thim Choy... Exhibition ends in June but with works priced from RM500, I wouldn't wait 'til then.

The Light Show @ Galeri Tenaga
In case you missed it at The Annexe Gallery, The Light Show 2009 continues at Gallery Tenaga until the 23rd of this month. The Light Show features light installations made from recycled/found objects by Bernard Chauly, Carolyn Lau, Fabian Tan, Farah Azizan, Jazmi Izwan Jamal, Lisa Foo, Loh Kok Man, Mah Su Sim, and Richard Lau in their attempt to be greenie-er and d kinder.r.

Awards Evening The KL Photo Awards 2009 @ The Annexe Gallery Winners will be announced and all 46 finalists will have their portraits displayed in a public exhibition.

National Art Gallery in co-operation with Red Cross and Red Crescent society present a photography exhibit on the impact of war & violence. The show features snapshots from Afghanistan, Phillipines, Lebanon, Colombia, Haiti, Liberia, Georgia and Democratic Republic of Congo. Exhibition goes on 'til 31st May.

Yeah it was definitely a crazy Art week. I had exams though so i ONLY caught Marion D'cruz's solo performance and the Art for Grabs.

It was superb Marion Dcruz's performance. So much energy.

Shall be blogging about it tomorrow.:D

This week just as crazy. opening atTaksu of joe fleming on 14th, at Wei Ling gallery of Paiman show also on 14th. Haslin"s opening at RA fine arts on 16th as well as Rimbun Dahan WWF show on same day. Hope to see coverage of all these shows on what's art :))
