The New York art world ushers in Asia Week — an annual event taking place thisVisit Asianart. com for listing of exhibitions and fairs going on during Asia Week.
week which includes auctions, gallery shows, Asian Contemporary Art Week and the
Arts of Pacific Asia Show.
New York Arts of Pacific Asia, the oldest and biggest Asian Arts show, doing
it's 19th run will present 75 major U.S. and international galleries and dealers
specializing in antique works from all over Asia.
Major auctions are scheduled at Sotheby`s, Christie's, Bonhams and Doyle`s,
with Asian themed shows at Galleries such as Pace Wildenstein around the city.
Due to the current economic slump The International Asian Art Fair started in
1996, established as Asia Week's most important fair which was meant to have
taken place on at New York's Park Avenue Armory, has been canceled. As an
alternative, Asian Art Dealers of The Upper East Side is organizing their
1st Annual Asian Art Exhibition.
